Current Picture Of A Building Where A New Hearing Office Is Supposed To Open In Early 2011

This is in Fayetteville, NC. It was not long ago that we were being told that a hearing office would open in Fayetteville in August, 2010. We are now being told that a temporary hearing office will open somewhere in Fayetteville -- no one seems to know where -- in September, 2010 but that a full hearing office will open in the building pictured below in early 2011.

Here is an article from the local newspaper. The owner is hoping to open the building by next summer. Below is another current photo of the building.

Oh, boy. Oh, dear. Burned out, right? Fire really messes with the bearing walls and weakens supporting beams.

Are they going to raze this building and build to suit? Could be, I guess. GSA would be the agency to ask. ODAR may be foggy on details. Obviously they are a little weak on building acquistion and construction. It's too bad. You can put up a building that size in a realatively short period of time. Doesn't look too promising, I have to agree. Nancy Ortiz

i have seen a lot of headaches related to space issues this past year. dealing with GSA is a royal pain, so i wouldnt lay the blame totally at SSA's feet. meanwhile odar has 3 unions to deal with so that really bogs things down.

They've selected some staff and put out announcements internally for a senior attorney, so I know that the office will open this fiscal year in some form. Especially since there'll be a severe hiring freeze beginning October 1.
