Man Shot To Death At Detroit Social Security Office

CBS Detroit reports that "One man is killed, another flees on foot Friday night around 5:30 p.m. after a Detroit security guard fires nine shots at two men who jumped a fence at the Social Security office near Wyoming and 7 Mile Road."

Update: There was a break-in at the Social Security office but there are serious questions about the security guard's behavior.

This is another example of the SSA agency cutting corners in order to meet the minimum requirements. I would suggest that this agency hire qualified help and invest in metal detectors in order to protect it's employees.

Guards come from an FPS contract. Metal detectors wouldn't have helped in this case. Nevertheless there is a pilot to put metal detectors in offices. Not sure that's a great idea....

The men weren't breaking into the S.S. office. They had attempted to break into the Security Guard's vehicle and fled when he confronted them. The dead man was shot in the back while trying to flee over the fence. The other man got away.
