FPS To The Rescue

According to one blogger, the Federal Protective Service (FPS) sent something like a SWAT team, with a semiautomatic weapon and a bomb sniffing dog, to the Leesburg, VA Social Security field office this past week with no advance warning and for no reason other than training.

Government theater. Just like the TSA. Giving the illusion that we are safe.

It's probably not critical, but this was Leesburg, FL, not Leesburg, VA. I mostly find it interesting that with all of the outcry expressed over this exercise, there appears to be only one photo of the event.

An example of move goverment money being squandered.

"with a semiautomatic weapon" Seriously? Doesn't most every urban police officer in America carry a semiautomatic weapon? Were they supposed to be carrying muskets, or are we complaining that they didn't have machine guns?

My biggest beef with these exercises is that they block traffic. So, so, so annoying. These people think the world revolved around them and their childish 'cops and robbers' world view. No, it doesn't. Stop double parking while you pretend to be a Ghostbuster. I'm trying to drive to my office.
