    they should raise the cap that fica is taxed at and proportionately pay higher benefits to those taxed at the higher rates. even if it results in someone's rib payments being $5000 or $6000 per month, it will help make the system more solvent overall.

    Nah. raise/eliminate the FICA cap. and cap max benefits paid to whatever the most you can currently receive.
