Computer Systems Down

I understand that Social Security is having nationwide computer systems problems today. Could this be related to reassigning staff who normally maintain such systems to answering the phone?

  1. Appointed Representative Services was down for me earlier this morning but seems to be working again now. I think part of the issue is the COSS's insistence on not having down time on systems. Some of the prior down times seemed excessive, but zero also seems likely to cause unscheduled breakdowns due to a lack of scheduled maintenance.

  2. Read the news. There’s a large blizzard causing power outages across the northeast.

  5. And to think that spending untold millions of taxpayer dollars on systems gave us days like today.

    1. And most of those millions were spent on expensive private sector contractors your president and his party would like to give even more money and responsibility to. Makes you think, don’t it?
