They Say He Stole From Poor Mentally Ill People

      From Fox News:

… The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland announced today that a federal grand jury indicted Najee Alexander Corbett, 37, of Baltimore, in connection with a Social Security disability theft scheme. …

As part of the alleged scheme, prosecutors said Corbett targeted SSI claimants diagnosed with mental health disorders and altered claimant records in the SSA database to include bank accounts he controlled and his residential mailing address so he could receive their benefit funds.

Prosecutors also said Corbett changed the date of benefit eligibility payments for selected claimants in the database, generating back payments in the claimants’ names. Authorities said he then caused SSI benefit payments to be transmitted to bank accounts he controlled and mailed to his home.

Federal prosecutors said Corbett received $116,537.62 in SSI disability payments through the scheme and retained $71,304.62. …

  1. Disgusting creatures humans can be. This is just sad. Sure is a lot of fraud from within over the years. I wonder if Doge ever looked for that, or just at the claimants? 🤔

    1. Hello? This is ONLY an indictment by an administration that seems only capable of indictment and can sometimes not even indict a ham sandwich. Plus, this comes from Fox Lies, er, Fox "News". So, Mr. Corbett retains presumption of innocence for now. Or have we completely abandoned the law?

  2. I understand the anger, but hopefully DOJ will let Mr. Corbett off easy. It's super stressful to work at SSA right now, many are doing things entirely out of character due to orange man. It would be nice if he could get off with a warning, apologize to those he impacted, and continue his work at the agency. We're family here and look after one another.

    2. I too hope he continues his public service career. Just in a different role, specifically at FCI Cumberland manufacturing license plates.

    3. Being stressed at work is zero excuse for stealing. Literally everyone we help is old, disabled or had someone pass away. Anyone who steals from people like that should have the book thrown at them.
