What Would You Say To The Transition Team?

A team from the Obama transition will be visiting the Social Security Administration soon to talk with the Commissioner and other high level officials. If you had a chance to talk with the Obama transition team, what would you say?

  1. I would say that the new administration must decide whether it wishes to retain ALJ adjudication of disability or not. If it wishes to keep the present system, it must be prepared to devote human resources to the agency, not just technology. And it should eliminate the referral of cases to state DDS agencies. Have initial determination and recons made by SSA personnel who would pay appropriate cases without need for appeal.

If, on the other hand, there is little interest in saving the present system, do nothing.
