Different Commissioners, Different Agendas

Things have changed a bit when it comes to Social Security's relations with the press. Here is the count on the number of press releases in recent years. Michael Astrue became Commissioner in 2008. It is like former Commissioner Barnhart was trying to make her agency disappear from public view. That is definitely not the desire of the current Commissioner.

  1. It wasn't the Commissioner so much as it was the policy of the Bush Admininstration

  2. This is about the Commissioner's broadcast that came out today (04/01/2010)on how Obanacare id going to affect government employees.

It said that government employee health plan will now cover "children" until age 26, which is a good thing I guess.

Then it say when info is available they will explain about flexible spending plans. Well it's easy to find on the Internet that Obamacare cuts the amount you can spend in half from $5000 to $2500.

I guess the Commissioner doesn't to speak ill of Obamacare and run the risk of being hauled in front of Henry Waxman.
