Police say the victim, an adult male, has suffered non life-threatening injuries and will be transported to Sinai Hospital.
The suspect was last seen running down Woodlawn Drive.
Update: OK,
it's over.
New reports are saying the person shot was an SSA employee.
ReplyDeleteWhen is management going to install metal detectors? I guess they are waiting for someone to get killed. Management has no problem finding money for useless cameras to spy on its employees or huge award money for themselves. It is time to put the public and employees first.

ReplyDeleteThe employee shot was not on SSA property when shot, so nothing management could have done about this.
As Anon 5:35 correctly pointed out, a metal detector would have done nothing to save this employee from being shot. But since you brought up "uncaring management" (which if they're so uncaring how in the world can they continue to keep their jobs?? how can they sleep at night??), metal detectors are hugely expensive and require additional FPS contract guards to man. Nevertheless, SSA has a nationwide pilot testing metal detectors (more appropriately called magnetometors) in field offices. It requires two additional guards to man the magnetometor in addition to the normal guard. In addition to the cost factor, one has to consider what the perception is from the public as they enter their community based office to receive assistance only to go through a metal detector. This is not an argument against the detectors, it's just an effort to let some of the more critical folks know that there are lots of things to consider with regards to such a venture.
ReplyDeleteJust make offices like the bank. People stay behind thick bulletproof glass and you send evidence through a tube. Arm the manager with a sidearm. Then you wouldn't even neen a guard.
