SSA should keep a certain number of FO open in each state.SSA should close or eliminate the national 800# call centers. SSA should close or eliminate the appeals council. SSA should move quickly to impliment an enhance online service, thusly replacing the poor national 800# service.
ReplyDeleteThis is bogus. SSA has no plans "to close virtually every field office" Some field office consolidations and closings make perfect business sense in the changing tech environment
ReplyDeleteThese people (AFGE and politicians) should know better, but neither ever miss an opportunity to grand stand.
ReplyDeleteThere will always be an SSA field office structure, but it will be smaller, and co-located with other government offices (VA, IRS, etc.)along with state and local government offices. It's all about economies of scale. We're running out of money folks. It's time for taxpayers to demand efficiencies in government and a cut in excessive overhead, and that includes in personnel costs.
