The number of people drawing Disability Insurance Benefits from Social Security declined in July. This number has declined in nine of the last ten months. There has been a decline of 0.3% from the peak in September of last year.
I admit I'm too lazy to do the math on my own, so I'm asking the question: if numbers of disability recipients are declining, and there are more people working each month, not to mention the virtual absence of cost-of-living increases, why is the disability trust fund in danger of running out of money?
Yes as the Baby Boomers become eligible for retirement benefits, they drop off of the disability rolls, not a surprise at all.
ReplyDeleteMight be because us baby boomers are dying at a greater rate than ever before.
