Women And Social Security Disability

Some charts prepared by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) on women and Social Security disability benefits:
On this one, I think it's important to note that a big part of this is that women are much more likely to have knee problems than men. For reasons having to do with anatomy and physiology women are generally more susceptible to other joint problems as well.

  1. For both men and women, for every single age cohort, a greater percentage is on disability in 2017 than in 1980. Given the advances in medicine since 1980, does this not constitute darn near incontrovertible evidence that it is easier to get on disability now than it was back then? I wonder if the recently uncovered Conn fraud scheme is just the tip of the iceberg, with similar outrages going on all over the country?
