From the New York City Health Department: "New York, stay home. Healthy or sick, all New Yorkers need to stay home as much as possible."
From Social Security: The field office in White Plains (which is a suburb of New York city) and the hearing office in Bedford Heights (which is in New York City) are closed.
SSA HQ employees were sent home this morning
ReplyDeleteStaff at my office (near HQ, not open to the public) were also sent home this morning with instructions to telework indefinitely.
ReplyDeleteYou have the offices mixed up. White Plains is a close HO and Bedford is a closed FO.
ReplyDeleteThe White Plains, NY OHO and the Denver, CO OHO and Regional Office are now closed.
ReplyDeleteSo the non public people were sent home but the FO's are still open???? Makes total sense.....
ReplyDeleteBedford heights is closed for renovations
ReplyDeleteSo the high grade GS employees in HQ were sent home, while the FO, PSC, and TSC employees, who are at greater risk than HQ, have to keep coming in without telework.
ReplyDeleteSSA must treat this as the emergency it is, close every single office. No discrimination or favorites. Have employees take laptops home and telework where possible, administrative leave where not. And work on an emergency basis to get the agency ready for 100% telework for the foreseeable future..
The decisions to cut telework in November and March can no longer be defended or excused. . These decisions were reckless, short sighted, reactionary, and foolish. Those decisions have put countless thousands of SSA Employees at additional risk, along with the public we serve in FO and HO.
Those involved with making those decisions to cut telework made the worst decisions in SSA history, and they should lose their jobs.
9:37 where did you get your info about SSA HQ employees being sent home today. . Have not heard anything about that and the SSA HQ status web page does not say anything about closing today.

The Social Security Offices at headquarters and the Baltimore metropolitan area are OPEN and OPERATING NORMALLY. Falls Church and Washington D.C offices should continue to monitor and follow OPM guidance.

ReplyDeleteindividual component managers are telling their staff
HQ is not closed - just most people working at home. There are always some key staff and managers on duty in HQ.
@2:01 the info is going to be trickling out slowly but HQ staff is going to telework 5 days per week indefinitely. This was essentially waiting on White House approval and it was granted and will be trickling out throughout the day.
ReplyDeleteSo Trump just said to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people. Surely this means he will order Saul to close the field offices...right?

ReplyDeleteWith that statement, all FOs/PCs/TSCs etc should be closed.
