From the Twitter feed of Social Security's Office of Inspector General:
Holly (left, pictured with our agent) noticed a customer trying to buy gift cards and asked a few questions. Holly saved the customer from being scammed out of thousands of dollars. Thank you Holly! #SlamtheScam #SocialSecurity #HollySlammedtheScam #GiftCardsAreForGifts
With respect...this really needs more explanation. (That's directed at OIG, not you, Charles.) Is Target selling scam gift cards? How can you tell by seeing someone at a store that they're being bilked? Don't just pat yourself on the back, OIG, educate the public.
ReplyDeleteSounded to me as if the person was buying gift cards to pay a scammer. Perhaps someone who said their SSA account had criminal activity and the person was buying gift cards to pay off the scammer.
