Vaccine Mandate Compliance Rate Increases At Social Security While Suspensions Loom For Those Who Fail To Comply

     From The Hill:

Federal government agencies are preparing to take increasingly harsh steps against unvaccinated employees in order to implement President Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal workers.

Some agencies plan to send letters warning of possible suspensions to employees who have not complied with the mandate. Many are also prepared to fire employees who don’t follow the rule, though such moves would be further down the road. ...

The departments of Treasury, Transportation and Agriculture as well as the General Services Administration, Social Security Administration and Nuclear Regulatory Commission are all expected to begin suspending employees who are not complying with the mandate in the coming weeks. ...

Some agencies also saw success in convincing unvaccinated workers to get the shot toward the end of the year. The Social Security Administration, for instance, as of Friday had achieved a 98.9 percent compliance rate and a 91.5 vaccination rate, compared with a 95 percent compliance rate and 87.7 percent vaccination rate as of November.  ...

    1. You act as though it is up to the employees when they return to the office. Private sector employees treating public servants like whipping boys is so cliched. Yawn.

  2. The offices should be able to reopen in some form hopefully by summer time. Now is not the time to reopen them.

  3. keep in mind, those awaiting a decision on a waiver, medical or religious, count as in compliance. That still leaves 8.5% on the chopping block. Will we really see the administration go through with it?

  4. They can be replaced. Not everything SSA does is black majic that takes 100 years of practice to do.

Lets see what is the worse that could happen? A backlog, nothing new there, errors-those always happen, unanswered phone calls, nothing new.

  5. SSA Operations jobs such as Claims Specialist in FO and PC, require years of experience to do well. Just the workers comp offset alone (different rules for each state) is extremely complex.

SSA should do whatever possible to avoid losing vital Operations employees, even if that means allowing some form of permanent work from home.

  6. This get back to the office drone is getting stale. Can 12:30 PM spell OMICRON .. or heard of Break Through Infections ....an acute lack of humanity in my opinion ... I work non-stop remotely ... even a bit more than when in the office as the telephone calls are non stop .. interrupting more detailed/complicated work . BTW if forced back to the Field Office I will most certainly retire after 40+ years ... good luck finding a replacement or a mentor w/ my ski;;s.

  7. Do we know whether the 1.1% of SSA employees who have not complied by either starting the vaccination process or requesting an exemption includes employees on long-term leave? We are not tracking these employees down at home seeking vaccination status -- SSA policy is that any such employees need to complete the certification upon return to work.

Also, sorry to express amusement at the expense of @4:29, but do your "ski;;s" include typing? ;)

  8. I'd joke that there's going to be promotion opportunities as people get the boot, but SSA's process in filling personnel needs is so ridiculously slow that we'll be fighting COVID-25 by that point.

  9. A SSA coworker told me that fake vaccination cards selling in her neighborhood. I wonder if the true vaccination rate is that high.

  10. Dont care anymore. No respect for these people at all, i care more for a discarded Egg McMuffin wrapper. WFH leads to outsourcing, ask the VA. They are now outsourcing HCBS cheaper and better for the Vets, writing on the wall.

  11. Good…outsource then. Won’t bother me one bit. I can find other work.
