Wow I am only in the 4% -- SSDI recipient. Didn't realize there were so many legal reps frequenting. I see why though because this is the best site I've found to stay up with what is going on.
SSA Central Office employee but I stated coming here when I was a regional employee because I learned more about what was actually happening in the field from articles and comments here than I did from RO management.
I come here to the comments section every time I start to hate my job as a decision writer in a hearing office to remind myself of how terrible any public facing SSA job would be and to be thankfulful for what I have, I'm usually able to finish out the day in a better mood.
I thought I wouldn't like talking to the public. I have done it for over 20 years and that is the best part of the job as a CR/CS. The lousy part is dealing with unreasonable workload expectations from management.
Agency gossip and to vent. Charles it appears you have created the online version of an old fashioned hair salon/barber shop. And you are doing one heck of a job. Thank you!
@1:57: It’s not that they don’t know how to communicate effectively. It’s that those at HQ in Baltimore and Falls Church just don’t care whether staff in the field are informed, capable of doing their jobs, and content enough to continue serving the agency’s mission. As an example, it has now been four months since the Deputy Commissioner solicited survey responses from OHO writers on how morale can be improved, and that ghoul has not said a single peep in the four months that have now elapsed. Meanwhile, the VA is hoovering up writers and other SSA staff with simple common-sense accommodations, like converting positions that don’t involve in-person work to remote positions, which SSA inexplicably refuses to do for no reason that anyone has ever been able to articulate when asked. The ship isn’t just sinking. It’s full of filthy rats snd going down in flames.
I am not an employee of SS, DDS, legal service, advocacy, congress, or media, nor am I retiree or claimant. I come here for information and news to make better-informed opinions.
FO employee. Half the time I found about things that affect us first here. For the size and impact that SSA as an agency has, it's practically uncovered by the press overall.
I work in a Congressional staff in Central Office. I spend most of my time correcting errors, made by the FO, and also errors made by Central Office employees in the mods.
Testing for job applicants, and better training is needed, for SSA employees.
Gee Charles, you didnt list your favorite targets of paid shills.
ReplyDeleteI’m here to roll my eyes at all the comments blaming SSA employees for every problem with Ssa.
ReplyDeleteFO. Communication is so bad I come here to learn what's happening at my own agency.

ReplyDelete@1:57 So true!
ReplyDeleteAt least 1 Congressional employee should be visiting this website.
