If you’ve paid attention to the statements of Commissioner Bisignano you may have noticed that every chance he has had he’s talked about the terrible ratings that Social Security employees have given their agency as an employer, the worst of any large federal agency. He has expressed a strong desire to do something about these ratings, which are derived from surveys done by the federal Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
The Commissioner can stop worrying about the problem. It’s been solved. OPM has decided to stop doing the surveys.
They're sweeping so much under the rug, that people will start tripping over it soon.
ReplyDeleteThe FEVS was a decent tool to measure agency trends.
ReplyDeleteCommissioner Bisignano Is a brilliant man and he addressed the problem immediately by silencing his employees views on how SSA is being run. Silence is Golden under this administration.
ReplyDeleteFederal employees who voted for this administration have disappeared just like the survey.
ReplyDeleteNope. Still here. But we were working at the time you wrote this.
DeleteOne brave soul. I guess the rest have already jumped ship.
DeleteNope! Still here!
DeleteHow are you enjoying telework or institutional knowledge walking out the door at record numbers? Translation… you must do more work. Still there?
DeleteFEVS has always been one of the best examples of government waste. How much does that nonsense cost and which politician's cousin gets the payoff?
ReplyDeleteOh yes- he cares sooooooo much about how employees feel. If he cared, he would allow telework EVENLY across the board- not just for OHO- and wouldn’t have gone against the existing CBA. If he cared, he wouldn’t have forced essential people in the FOs to answer the 800 number. And given them a 24 hour notice. If he cared, he would actually bother to learn what the agency does and try to take steps to fix what’s broken. AI won’t fix everything. And it won’t make up for severe staffing shortages, or the complexities of the jobs. Sorry, he does not care at all.
ReplyDeleteSSA employees are exhausted and demoralized.
ReplyDeleteFEVS scores have tanked b/c of the following:
Years of low pay for really complex jobs that take too long to learn.
Outdated systems that are slow, crash frequently, and are never modernized effectively, despite years of promises. Tasks take longer to do and require more clicks than they used to.
Constantly being underfunded by an apathetic Congress, which has led to too many years of hiring freezes.
A workforce that has a large portion of employees who are at or very close to retirement.
A 50 year staffing low because of hiring freezes, employees retiring, or resigning due to job difficulties, low pay, and subpar training.
Problem employees that management bends over backwards to not address, thus tanking morale and the desire of good employees to work hard.
Constantly being asked by managers and higher ups to do more with less (through no fault of the employees) with nothing to show for it.
Rewards are a pittance, and aren’t worth going above and beyond for.
Having management and higher ups ignoring all of the above for years and doing nothing to address it.
Having management and higher ups not listen to the employees, who oftentimes have great ideas and suggestions that might actually help.
And now, we’re down 7,000 more employees, and telework and workplace flexibilities have been yanked away. So it’s getting worse, not better.
This is how we are feeling. At least those of us that care about the work we do and are not fascist bullies!
DeleteLow oil in your car? Just cover the light! All fixed. 🙄
ReplyDeleteThe job is a paycheck - forget "service to country" - those days are over unless you're part of the fascist regime.
ReplyDelete@7:24 you are so right. I have zero care left or any interest in public service. I show up, do my 8 hrs, get my paycheck, and go home. Not how I started, but after 15 years, it’s where I’m at now.
