Social Security closed a hearing office in Augusta, GA, leaving a building that the government is leasing vacant. The local paper is wondering about the waste of money.

The word on the street is that the owner of the building refused to timely repair the property and tha the mold was a health risk for employees.
Yep. I work with one of the relocated employees. GSA screwed 'em but good. Simply refused to do anything about it, despite a significant mold issue. Wouldn't do anything about the landlord/lease, the health risk itself, or new office space. Pathetic. Management had no other viable option.

9:40 - this is true. GSA refused to terminate the lease and relocate the ODAR employees to a suitable space, so SSA disbanded the office.

I thought they were now co-located with the FO?
One Judge is left there. All others were moved to other hearing offices.
