Social Security Beneficiaries To Lose $2,000 A Year Due To Trump Immigration Policies

      From The Guardian:

Elderly Americans can expect to lose an average of $2,152 in annual social security benefits each, a projected 8.6% reduction in their retirement payments, by 2034 and every year after as a direct consequence of the economic fallout from the Trump administration’s anti-immigration campaign, if that carries on, according to a new report shared exclusively with the Guardian. …

The report, Economic Impacts of Trump Administration Immigration Policy, was commissioned by America’s Voice and conducted by researchers at Economic Insights and Research Consulting, a firm focused on economic analysis. …

The federal government risks losing a large segment of the $26bn in payroll taxes from unauthorized immigrants who help to support the US social security fund that pays out to American seniors – while not being able to access those benefits themselves.  …

Pro-illegal immigration group releases report and Guardian, as usual, bites. Stop trying to scare seniors about losing their benefits. Everyone knows that Congress will fix. Individual members/senators just don’t want to commit to how until they know they are in the “current” Congress that must fix it. That or they risk losing their seat before that cycle. That’s all most of them care about. And I’d rather have a solution that doesn’t give in to illegal immigration. Interesting that the article only addresses problems for healthcare in context of the workers, ignoring the higher healthcare costs illegals create and other costs.

I hope the racist MAGA crowd that were holding the deportation signs at the Republican convention enjoy their eventual cut in benefits. That figure seems low since it’s expensive to take care of the elderly these days due to Stephen Millers draconian deportation tactics.

@8:24, seniors should absolutely be scared right now along with their children. Congress isn’t fixing shit, SS benefits will soon be a portion of what they once were. Are we winning yet?!

Legislation to strengthen Social Security is not happening for a couple more years since DJT will still have veto power. By that time, the economy will spiraling down the drain even more and expect the solvency date to move closer. The issue is about AI, low birth rates, immigration , economy, and individuals living longer. Congress doesn’t like to make tough decisions so expect a 26% across the board cut on Social Security benefits.

“Illegal” immigrants are not eligible to receive Social Security benefits. I hope you get updated Republican talking points sooner than later.

I agree with @10:08 - They need to be scared right now. Anyone on SS should be scared, and stand up and say something loudly to the government. VOTE...it's the only way to try to change it, other than the elderly and disabled yelling outside the White House.
