The CBS affiliate in Baltimore has done an interview with Social Security Commissioner Martin O'Malley. I'll give you a fair warning that there's not much news in it. Here's something I find very mildly interesting:
... Reporter: Is it pretty amazing to you that you're here doing this? You've been the mayor of Baltimore, the governor of the state and now the commissioner for Social Security Administration.
Martin O'Malley: I would never have dreamed, I would never have guessed, this was not a card I ever would have picked up from the table, but I was honored when the White House called and asked me to do it, because think about it, I get to travel 22 minutes in the morning across Northern Parkway to be able to serve in the national headquarters of the Social Security Administration, which serves 80 million Americans. ...

I take it that he’s very happy with his short commute but why bring it up with so many problems needing to be addressed by Social Security management. O’Malley will be replaced in a few months if there is a change in leadership and at that point he can commute to whatever destination he wants.
I wonder if the 21% across the board cut in 2034 was addressed in the interview instead of his 22 minute commute to the SSA headquarters.
As this is merely a platform to get his name back into the 2028 presidential race, you think he cares that he’ll be gone?
Luckily we now are 100% sure he will be gone by January 2025. He brags about his short commute after many working mothers have had to quit due to long commutes with young children at home after he forced them back to office. Heartless.
Are you still sure with the 100% figure that O’Malley will be gone by January 2025? There is a reason why pencils have erasers.
Yes re O’Malley being gone. If Trump wins he’s gone for sure. And if Kamala wins she already has someone in mind to pay back the campaign favors. For those suggesting O’Malley 2028; yes his tenure at SSA will push him from 0.04% of the vote to 0.06%. Look out!
