Finally

Social Security can cut off disability benefits if there is medical improvement. However, claimants can ask that their disability benefits continue while they appeal. More than 40 years after benefit continuation came into being Social Security has finally created a form for claimants to use to request benefit continuation.

Blame Dudek and Bisignano for the delay! They clearly killed anything O'Malley, Colvin, and Kilolo thought was important. This must have slipped through the cracks and not been on their radar!

There has always been a form for that. The appeal form asks if you want benefit continuation.

We have preprinted 795s for this. Used them for decades. The form is probably better but the idea isn't new at all.

Yes, but you had to file a separate statement noting that you wanted those benefits continued and acknowledging that you might have to pay them back. Just checking the box was not enough. This form SSA -792 replaces the SSA 795 Form stat was just a blank statement that could be prefilled with the required information now part of the 792.
