If folks haven't yet commented on the Schedule F proposal (comments are open til June 7), this would be a great thing to cite as an example of how the Trump administration is further politicizing what used to be a very nonpolitical federal workforce.

A bunch of former SSA career execs published a fantastic, detailed comment last week: https://downloads.regulations.gov/OPM-2025-0004-23166/attachment_1.pdf

There's also a new paper out last week on SSA and the Schedule F proposal: https://www.nasi.org/discussion/schedule-policy-career-and-the-social-security-administration-history-implications-and-limitations/

SSA would have to hire tens of thousands of conservatives to balance things in the SSA workforce. I don't think it's necessary but one reason there are so many whiners about telework is that the SSA workforce is probably 80 percent or better Democrats.

If conservatives want to score virtue points by seeking out poorer labor standards, then they can have at it. But what a puzzling exercise in virtue signaling! What’s next, shooting yourselves in the groin because Joe Biden is fighting his prostate cancer?

Not so in the office I worked over 40 years. It was slightly more GOP.

Ugh - no way in hell is anyone outside the maga cult going to opt for federal service unless they're desperate for a job, and in that case, they're going to have to lie through their teeth about wanting to advance any of the felon's EOs
