Shuart is not new to the SSAB, however. She had been appointed by the Speaker of the House effective Oct. 9, 2022 to a six-year term as a member of that body. She filled the vacancy created by the expiration of Hildred’s appointment to the SSAB, which ended in October 2022.
Shuart also is no stranger to policy. Her nearly 20-year career in policy roles includes those of Staff Director of the Social Security Subcommittee of the Committee on Ways and Means, and Vice President of Technology & Innovation at Business Roundtable. Before that, she served as a Presidential Management Fellow at the Social Security Administration in the Office of Retirement Policy. She earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Virginia Tech and a Master of Public Affairs from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas. …

You mean the media exaggerates the damage DOGE has done? Is it possible DOGE has made this group even better and leaner? Somebody owes Mr. Musk and COSS Dudek an apology.
better and leaner? you have no idea what you are even talking about... SSAB was always super duper lean ... it's an advisory board... it's not even a penny of the budget. More like Doge wanted it killed but some congressional folks found a statute that required its existence... I doubt Amy even has staff... sadly.. its bc its elimination was ILLEGAL to begin with
I was on many conference calls with Amy Shuart when she was a staff director for ways and means and she is not a very nice person. I’ve never encountered someone so unprofessional. She was extremely demeaning to SSA staff and execs alike. She’s the last person you want in a public-facing role, which is why she fits in perfectly with this administration.
12:54 - SSAB was never lean. The budget is about $3mil. And yes, it is a line item in SSA's budget and is funded by the trust funds. The staff director would like you to believe most of this funding goes to Board member salary, but in reality, the majority of the funds pay for the salary of the "professional support staff, " which is laughable. Most of them have little to no SSA experience or knowledge. There are only 7 board members (sometimes less) and about 10 staff. Board member are only paid when they do Board work. This is not their full-time job. If you don't think staff are overpaid, then where is the $3mil going? And no, it is not being returned to SSA.
