Deep Thoughts

If a live man is listed as dead in the Death Master File, are dependent benefits payable to his “widow” and children? Sounds like a case for estoppel to me.

They didn’t think this through.

In this administration, that’s a one way ticket to the El Salvador prison.

This week we had 3 separate cases of parents coming in to stop the SSI benefits of their disabled children (since the parents did not have a SSN). So called - Parent No SSN cases. Fear level is high !

Heisenberg principle - person is actually alive physically but dead systematically at the same time. Which "reality" applies to a contingent event? Not dead, so no survivor benefits applicable, or deceased, in which case they do? Of course, assuming they are on the MBR in the first place, an auto conversion from wife to widow would be an interesting side effect.

I read that the list would be changed to ineligible, not just a death list.
A death indicator on the numident is not by itself proof of death. There's a field to show proof of death either via SSA 721 or death certificate.

This initiative is to deport as many individuals as possible and not “drain” the system. The fact is that undocumented workers pay billions into the trust fund and get nothing in return. It will be interesting to see if insolvency date remains at 2033 or is moved forward due to high unemployment, longevity of our seniors, lack of IRS enforcement and undocumented workers no longer paying into the trust fund.

Or perhaps the insolvency date will push back due to continued work beyond FRA by people who no longer have enough 401k left to survive. 😢

"I read that the list" - what list?

"A death indicator on the Numident..."
You mean a date of death? Of course there is no proof, because the date of death itself is fraudulent.

If it isn't proof of anything, why add it?

They don't seem to be thinking beyond petty cruelty. Even assuming for a moment folks on their list were as bad as they claim, how would it make sense to create false records that lead agencies using the Master Death File to believe allegedly "dangerous" or "illegal" "fraudsters" are deceased?

There is a field on the numident indicating whether proof of death was received.
If someone calls in a death it will be noted on the numident with no proof of death. It won't end up being one of those 150 year olds that are not dead on SSA records.
