Large Scale Hiring At SSA

The USAJobs website now lists 76 open jobs at Social Security. To put it in perspective, Social Security would have to list several hundred just to make up for the job losses since the beginning of the fiscal year on October 1, 2006.

76 JOBS IS A JOKE, ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY DO NOT APPEAR TO BE IN FIELD OFFICES--ALTHOUGH I DID NOT READ THE ENTIRE LIST.
MY OFFICE HAS GONE FROM ABOUT 32 EMPLOYEES TO 14 IN THE PAST 25 YEARS, AND WE COULD CONCEIVABLE LOSE ANOTHER 6-8 IN THE NEXT 18 MONTHS, WITH NO PROSPECT OF HIRIMG. EVEN IF THEY WERE TO HIRE HALF THE ANTICIAPATED LOSSES, THERE IS NO ONE LEFT TO TRAIN THEM.

ODAR is doomed. The work-at-home scam involving ALJs and staff is causing a tremendous loss of productivity.

There were 1057 separations during the first 5 months of FY 2007 during a time when there was no hiring at all according to SSA. SSA continues to shrink.
