Ways And Means Committee Schedules Hearing With Commissioner

The House Ways and Means Committee has scheduled a hearing with Commissioner Frank Bisignano for 2:00 on June 25th. This will not be a full Committee hearing. It’s a joint hearing between the Social Security and Work and Welfare Subcommittees. The Work and Welfare Subcommittee has jurisdiction over SSI.

Bigger conversation than just SSI.

“[T]o discuss necessary improvements to customer service at the Social Security Administration and plans for modernization to ensure Americans retain access to the essential
benefits they expect and deserve.“

For those in the FO, there has to be an easy fix for some of this. What are the simple issues that come up in the office and clog the queue? For starters, our notice letters suck and need to be a lot clearer. Need to entirely revamp the template on those. They're worse than the IRS ones.

Won't be surprised when Fearless Frank says that it's time for Social Security to start contracting out it's customer service functions...

One question for the hearing should be what will be the impact on SSA disability claims if the Big Beautiful Bill kicks people off of Medicaid. Will those folks apply for disability benefits in hopes of getting the coverage back? Is Frank ready for this tsunami?

I wish someone would press him on giving us an accurate workforce update. How many employees are here, how many are gone, and a current OrgChart. We are literally changing policies, closing applications and services etc because staff has left, mailboxes are not being answered and requests are going to people who aren’t here anymore and just sitting.

A lot of SSA workers are talking about how excited they are. So far they are very impressed with Mr. Bisignano's AI plans, and delighted to see what improvements he can make. He's such an improvement over his predecessor. Look for Frank to lay out a strong gameplan next Wednesday.

Very good point. Many people who have been significantly limited by health issues in terms of job opportunities but were able to get Medicaid because of low or no income will now be highly motivated to establish disability.

These talking points come right out Karoline Leavitts playbook. She’s the White House spokesperson or better know as BS Barbie.

Lol. Sounds like an AI troll bot.

Delusional much?

He’s already making changes and undoing Leland’s plan. Effective Monday the office of mission support is gone and being renamed.

I mean I’m a liberal democrat. But who misses O’Malleys cheaply produced Richard Simmons videos?

Renamed from Titanic One to Titanic Two?

O'Malley was not my favorite person (he's a frigging character in The Wire after all, and not a good one), but he was by far the most dynamic commissioner since I hired in under Colvin. He recognized that staffing was the big issues and beat the drum about it.

We knew he was a short-termer who was filling out a CV between election cycles, but I'm happy with what I got from him, policy wise.

Are you talking to me, myself and I? Nobody is looking forward for Frankie’s tenure. Can you name one member of this administration that has an ounce of respect?

A lot of SSA workers are talking about how excited they are.

Any chance we can get any actual leadership? An org chart? What are our priorities and goals, or do we not have those anymore? Crickets on these fronts. Do we still have people who are working on our systems if they crash?

Literally NO ONE is saying that.

The more everyone is upended and focused on org charts and titles, the less substantive work is getting done. By all accounts there is more infighting than ever over titles and territory, while the few remaining functional support teams are totally dismantled. Where employees sit and who they report to is not the problem.

Where is Leland? No mention of him
After Frank came?

So what's the new OMS? Decrease in regions again with only 2 RCs left? What about all the folks who are still working from home, will they ever have to go in (they don'tall have a RA)? Or the folks who didn't put in for reassignment and aren't "the best" at their job but amassed 10 times work? What about the new fixed shift for TSC? Is that expanding to FO, PSC, CO? Will there still be RIFs? Does anyone know???

Do more with less, that’s the mantra right. As a former RO manager and a new FO employee

Internal workings are a complete bust. There is no support from HQ or RO since vital components were involuntarily disbanded and employees put into positions which they are not trained or experienced. This goes for programatic, systems and physical facilities that have failed to support us in the field. We need the expertise of those components.

Frank is making moves, coming for our work life balance. TSC’s just lost Flex Time, credit and AWS effective Monday.
