Chief Data Officer Resigns Over Misuse Of Agency Data

I guess it's a coincidence this happened on the Friday afternoon before Labor Day. From the New York Times:

The Social Security Administration’s chief data officer, Charles Borges, has resigned, three days after submitting a whistle-blower complaint that alleged members of the Department of Government Efficiency had uploaded the confidential personal information of hundreds of millions of Americans to an insecure cloud server.

In his resignation letter, Borges said that he was quitting in part because he could not “verify that agency data is being used in accordance with legal agreements or in compliance with federal requirements.”

They are absolutely ruining the agency. Doge still has control of everything.

They are so arrogant they think they can do whatever they want with Ssa data in part because billionaires run it they think they are above the law
Also pay attention to the words in nuance of Chuck’s letter. He describes an atmosphere of disrespect and fear and intimidation. I bet bass majority of headquarters employees would agree it’s rampant

Was this “resignation letter” done under duress by the DOGE cronies

“because billionaires run it and they are above the law.”

Fixed that for you. Apparently you forgot this is 2025 and not 1974.

In one sense yes, because he says they excluded him and created a hostile work environment. But I doubt they wanted him to write and publish this kind of letter, which seems like a preface to a lawsuit.

They weren't happy with it -- it was e-mailed to the entire Systems division, not just to management, and wiped from the system shortly after...

It’s the 🤡’s way or hit the highway.

But if Musk had uploaded it to a server in his bathroom closet that was hacked by multiple foreign sources you guys would be voting for him for president, wouldn't ya?

I've even started noticing long time HQ managers start acting in a disrespectful and intimidating way toward subordinates. Might me out of fear of their own jobs but seems like they're empowered by what they're seeing from the higher ups in the agency.

Thanks a million MAGA Supreme Court!

After a Supreme Court decision in June cleared the way for DOGE to gain access to the data amid ongoing litigation, DOGE created a copy of the agency’s most critical database of millions of Americans’ personal information to put in the digital cloud within the agency’s Amazon Web Services system.

The current administration isn’t good at doing much, but you have to admit that they have a talent for driving away employees with courage, competence and integrity.

There seems to be a panic among the executives left at SSA. None of them want to say no to rather insane goals that are getting set. Uncovering an issue. Hide it. Bury it. Looking at any shiny object or silver bullet that they believe will reduce cost and time. No thoughtful analysis and planning. Everything appears to be knee jerk decisions. The politicals at the top think the rest of us are stupid and the top 1% they think they know better then the rest of us. They should realize without the rest of us they would not be where they are. It is only going to get worse as there is no real strategy just a bunch of individual priorities that will not improve overall service to the public.

Frankenstein and Sleazy E's Peter Pan Posse are following the plan outlined in Project 2025 to eliminate Social Security once and for all.

One doesn’t need to be a rocket scientist to drive out talent. 🚀

It’s because if anyone says no, or pushes back, you’re effectively removed. Most of us are just trying to muddle through and make it out the other side in 3.5 years. Once they are eventually gone, then we can work on putting things back together again.

According to Wired, less than 30 minutes after Borges resigned, recipients could no longer access the resignation email.

The disclosure was made by Borges, who has served as chief data officer at the SSA since January.
Borges said the data at risk includes health diagnoses, income, banking records, family relationships, and other personal details.

The complaint was also sent to congressional oversight committees and urges lawmakers to "take appropriate oversight action."
The situation raises wider questions about data security and oversight within federal agencies, particularly concerning the role of DOGE in accessing sensitive personal information.

The midterm elections in 2026 could be a starting point to correct course.

The upper management of social security is comprised of crooked thieves. Frank Bisignanos company FISERV has lost over 1/3 of the value since he left. The company was inflating sales and prospects. Frank has a tendency to play loose with facts and reports. Believe nothing Frank’s says or publishes.
