The Commissioner of Social Security has sent a letter to the Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee claiming that “service is better than ever” at Social Security. The letter includes selected statistics. The definitions and significance of some, if not all, of the numbers given are unclear to me.

These boastful statistics by SSA leadership make the “Great American State Fair 250” attendance to shame.
That letter was also sent as a press release so employees who get the press releases got that fictional piece of garbage. You want to kill morale then gaslight your employees. The capacity to provide service sucks and those of us who care about the public are sick of the lies. Things are far from better. In fact they are worse. And the turnip is out of blood to give. We are being destroyed by the unreasonable expectations and grinding ourselves to death.

SSA is doing so great, it is now offering Sunday OT in addition to Saturday OT and weekday OT. And, as a bonus, you get to work weekend OT from home!! I guess magically all of the problems with telework don’t exist on premium pay.
I don’t recall prior Commissioners being so openly partisan.in this type of correspondence in the past. Is it now a Trump era requirement to say bad things about his political opponents even when discussing dry topics like call response times?

Well, he did contract with his daughter to send every Field Office and Hearing Office and where-ever a nice America 250 tray of pretzels. Website says the tray costs $52 plus shipping. Hope he paid for them himself.
Frank published a report full of fiction. The report states less people are going to the FO. Frank doesn’t tell Congress how many employees at the FO are reassigned to answer the 800#. The result means less employees are available to serve the public. Visitors leave or give up since the management infers it can take a very long time to be assisted in office. As a result you have less visitors, not by preference. The simple truth is Frank has cut the staffing in the FO available to serve the visitors.

I call BS the FO’s are not getting this level of sat/sunday OT, When we do have the occasional Saturday OT a manager has to be working, but i can work during our MGT can leave at 3:30 and i can work 3:30-5:30 doing OT, make sense of that!?! Why cant I work 4 hrs of OT a day? Or why if I am assigned to reception (as a CR) and if I show up at 7am from 3:30 -4:00 MGT wont allow that to be OT must be credit only.
Make sense of the fact SSI CR’s can only do RZ on OT? There is so much made up rules about the OT given to the front line FO employees.

In our area we used to be able to see the customer service numbers/stats. That was taken away when i caught the ADO lying to us about the stats.
Where can we see the phone stats?
Being pulled to 800# has destroyed our already short staffed FO, getting comical.
If they don't get enough volunteers, will the next step be reassignment for some?
Which component of the agency is getting that much ot?
I just want to know a few things:
- How many did we used to have on phones?
- how many people and from what parts of the agency got the mandatory pull to phones.
- next how many calls do we get a day?
Here is the fix, disbanded the 800# move everyone to the FO’s, have them answer phones and work reception. We have people on 800# who never processed an SS5 or have any hands on knowledge!
Nahhhhh lets drain the FO’s resources to make the 800# better! LOL This is probably why they banned personal heaters in the office due to a fire hazard meanwhile they are burning it down!
Ok thats pretty funny, and some people say he is a robot.
At first (beginning of last year), they only offered weekend OT in the office, and not enough people were working it, so they switched it to at home.
I’m not under any illusions that telework is coming back under this administration. I was just pointing out the hypocrisy that was brought about because we are so short staffed. Also, not everyone works in the FO to where they see people, so that point doesn’t really hold true for everyone.

As a BA in the PC, I get up to 18 hours of OT a week. 2 hrs OT is available almost every week day and 8 hrs Saturday and 6 hrs Sunday.
What is wrong with voicing our experiences and opinions about what is happening? Are you cool with sitting back and watching SSA become privatize because everyone retires or gets another job?
Of course not. They’re just too shortsighted to see that inevitability, and too pathetic to keep their hatred to themselves.
Yes, if they don’t get enough volunteers, managers will assign it to individuals as a directed detail.
It's the most self righteous group of individuals in the country.
They think they're performing neurosurgery when they're really just taking vitals.
Ssa employees are helping people make some of the most important financial and retirement decision for citizens who cannot get any financial help since there is no money to be made advising customers with little to no resources and income. Nobody claims to be neurosurgeons. The job is much more nuanced and cannot be handled through bots.
