An Agency Response

Social Security has a response to the “fake news” Washington Post article about the deterioration of service at the agency published by the Daily Caller, a far right wing publication. (The Daily Caller was the best you could do?)  It amounts to saying that if you just rely on what is presented in Social Security’s press releases, you have to admit that things are getting better and better. “Who are you going to believe — me or your lying eyes?”

Why doesn’t this SSA spokesperson stand behind these quotes? Why is everything so secretive?

After our transparent and thorough responses, it is disappointing that the Washington Post was unwilling to include any facts that contradicted the politically-driven narrative against the Trump Administration,” a Social Security spokesperson told the Caller.

The article also highlights worsening “bottlenecks,” noting that the agency argued those bottlenecks had improved. The SSA told the Caller that they actually made “massive improvement” which was “buried.”

I’m surprised this article didn’t come from state run media… Fox News.

Media Bias/Fact Check (MBFC) is an American website founded in 2015 by Dave M. Van Zandt.[1] It considers four main categories and multiple subcategories in assessing the "political bias" and "factual reporting" of media outlets,[2][3] relying on a self-described "combination of objective measures and subjective analysis"

Overall, we rate the Daily Caller as strongly right-biased based on story selection that almost always favors the right and Mixed for factual reporting due to numerous failed fact checks. The Daily Caller is a source that needs to be fact-checked on a per-article basis.

Media outlets have referred to The Daily Caller as Conservative, including The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times

Wondering where are the receipts? Are these individuals from the outfit that produce questionable unemployment and GDP numbers?

Since the US will run Venezuela now, Frank should be appointed to be CEO of Venezuela in order to run it with peak efficiency, he should also take his chiefs with him to help run Venezuela. He will fit in very well with the ministry of information in Venezuela.

Those of us not so brainwashed as to believe everything members of the GOP and right-wing media say should feel deeply offended by how stupid Frank and his cowardly lackeys act as though we are. And it should affect how we f**king vote each year for f**k‘s sake!

Contrarian point of view: service is bad (and has been for the past decade), but who cares? Southwest canceled my flight and two weeks later hasn't gotten back to me. I was on hold for hours for Apple earlier today. Xfinity has a three-hour wait to pick up. Every other big corporation puts me on hold with an AI bot who gives me an unhelpful scripted answer, and then hangs up. Why is it all the major corporations get a pass but SSA is required to have top of the line, immediate service where you call and an all-knowing human immediately answers? While we're at it, why does SSA waste so much time catering to the lowest common denominator and not require most people to have an internet account and set an appointment, then let the offline bunch jump through all the hoops?

Mr. Southwest has very high standards. The lowest common denominator helps pay for your salary so you can take your “expensive” trips.

Why does SSA waste so
much time catering to the
lowest common denominator and not
require most people to have an internet account.

I hear Big Balls is available! 😏

@5:02 Contrarian. Everyone has a constitutional right to access/address/seek redress from their government - even those who are blind or don’t have access to the internet. All the corporations you listed can choose to deny service to anyone. They can also choose to exit a market when it’s no longer profitable or doesn’t align with their vision. It’s apples (literally) to oranges.

Charles, we need a thumbs up/down feature. The above CEO comment deserves a thumbs-up. And you wouldn’t need to review/approve these votes to what are already-approved comments.

You’re right. We should make our government s**tty just like our corporations, and give them all a collective pass. That’ll make America great!

Seriously, though, this was one of the laziest and dumbest replies I’ve ever seen on this blog. You’re clearly not fit to be governed democratically.

More hatred for “the poors”. The lowest common denominator- those who are old and infirm - must really repulse this person -truly sad and disgraceful- I wonder what they feel the alternative should be—euthanasia, deportation, some kind of military or police action to keep them from inconveniencing the elite? Guessing it’s all on the table!!!

Cowardly lackeys. And here you are posting anonymously.
