From a contracting notice posted by Social Security:
Request for Quotation for the disposal of surplus alcohol-based hand sanitizer for Social Security Administration (SSA) facilities nationwide at approximately 20 locations. SSA has a hazardous waste surplus of expired alcohol-based hand sanitizer from the COVID-19 epidemic, which requires disposal. The disposal must be completed in accordance with the laws as required by the Federal, State, and Local Environmental Laws.

We have gallons that expired in 2023
The Biden administration bought the surplus of alcohol based hand sanitizer. I’m still trying to figure out why the Obama administration bought ammo
20 locations? Not even close to enough. This stuff is all over the agency. In the COVID panic, someone decided every officed needed 5 bottles of cheap nasty hand sanitizer per employee plus more for shared and public spaces and force shipped multiple cases to every office. Before it arrived, HQ realized this much alcohol in storage was highly flammable and required us to acquire giant storage cabinets. I seriously doubt more than a couple of bottles ever got used in many locations. Please get rid of it, and do so responsibly.
The hand sanitizer we got was horrendous. Anytime you used it you’d have to wash your hands because it left a sticky residue behind lol
A broken clock is right twice a day. ⏰
More wasteful Biden spending that could have gone to hiring employees. I’m glad DOGE is finally cleaning this mess up.
I heard that the hand sanitizer had covid already included lol
I never realized that stuff expired. The stuff I carry in my vehicle is almost pure alcohol.
Maybe they can send it all to a distillery and produce some government surplus vodka. A cocktail would go nice with the next round of pretzels.
I doubt it does. Charlie couldn’t find anything else to post.
Sanitizing it
Facilities required the central procurement AND storage of gallons and gallons of sanitizer when in fact managers could, and should, have been managing those purchases locally. An agency that can find money for the most absurd things while employees and members of the public suffer. Facilities should never again be trusted to make building or supplies decisions — between HQ renovation and the falling skylights, keeping people in offices like the WHR with Legionella bacteria, the millions of dollars and harm done over the last decade… rant over.
Give it a rest. DOGE was the most wasteful and incompetent "department" ever.
