The Social Security Administration now has a webpage that asks recipients of the $250 economic stimulus payments how they plan to spend the money. The agency plans to post some of the responses.

How are you going to spend $250.00? How do they think folks are going to spend it, for beans sake? Going to the opera? For some reason, everything I'm reading here and elsewhere this AM is irritating the bloody blazes outta me. Ok. I'll shut up now.
Going to the opera, yes. Thanks for the suggestion. I was planning to donate mine to the Neediest Cases Fund. I was amazed to find that I will get a stimlus payment, although I work full time and don't need it. The letter from Astrue says the payment will count as a resource for SSI if not spent within 9 months (how will they know?) but nothing as to whether it's taxable to high income people like me.

Social security asked for my thoughts, so I told them the truth:
I'm going to pay some medical bills.
Please increase my Social Security 2010 COLA.
My Social Security disability doesn't cover all my medical expenses.

I'm going to Nordstrom to buy a Robert Talbot tie...maybe 2. Just like Joe Biden probably will.
