What it points out is that most people aren't buying the propaganda.
SS may not be needed to be cut to balance the budget. In fact, its "surpluses" have helped reduce the deficits for years!
Now that the outgo exceeds the income (excluding interest), that Treasury bond interest is bought with cash. Or, in the case of a deficit, by increasing the debt held by the public.
Now, if benefits are not reduced or taxes raised, SS WILL add to the deficit and the debt held by the public.
