Google Analytics gives me all sorts of interesting statistics on this website. Here is a list of the top states (and D.C.) from which people visited this blog in the last month and the number of visits:
1. Maryland 9,113
2. Illinois 7,613
3. California 1,979
4. Pennsylvania 1,749
5. Ohio 1,381
6. New York 1,255
7. District of Columbia 1,174
8. Texas 962
9. North Carolina 751
10. Florida 729
The one that surprises me is Illinois. I looked back and a year earlier Illinois was in 7th place with only 781 visits. I will take a guess that the change has to do with the routing of some visits from the Social Security domain, as does the number of visits from Maryland.

Many of us in states outside of Maryland who check your blog via a computer on the SSA network get routed through Baltimore before going out onto the net.
So, many of those showing that they are coming from Maryland/Baltimore are actually in other states and cities.
I see the same thing on Analytics on my personal sites if I access them from inside the SSA. I'm in NY, but Analytics shows me as being in Baltimore Maryland.

Could Alsup be responsible for the Illinois hits?
