When I was a kid, there were only about five Bowl Games on, or around New Years, and the teams selected to play in the Bowl games had an exceptional winning record. All it takes to qualify for one of today’s numerous Bowl games is 6 wins, and they do not even have to be conference wins, but can be against non-conference teams that are no where near the same level of play. Frankly, it’s extremely difficult not to qualify for one of the numerous Bowl games today. Thus, today’s Bowl games no longer have the status they once had.
Went to the Belk Bowl in Charlotte back near my roots growing up in Oak Ridge, TN. The alma mater of my Dad and me lost. But oh well, it was a nice break from the SSD/SSI game.
5:54 PM This was the last Belk Bowl. Belk had a 6 year deal, but the company was sold in 2015. The new CEO cancelled (didn't extend) the sponsorship, so the will need a new one. So, it will get a new sponsorship and name, starting next year.

What happened to the Soup Bowl, the Finger Bowl, the Toilet Bowl...?
