OHO Phone Outages

I have received multiple reports of telephone outages at Social Security's hearing offices in several states today. Telephone hearings are going forward, however. We can't call in but can agency employees call out?

Phones at field offices have been down all morning. It takes several tries to call out and sometimes we can't get a call out at all. Nothing bu the best technology for the feds!

Never forget, the lowest bidder wins the contract.

Here in Florida, no SSA office phones are working either. Hearings are still going forward as well.

The phone system is one thing, hearings are another. Even phone hearings are held through Microsoft Teams so it's technically two different systems.

Yeah, for every call I made out today I had to try calling four or five times. I could always hear the claimants, but they could never hear me.

And, it wasn't just the phone systems. Worktrack was was all screwy today too. Click on a document, then have to wait 10-15 minutes for it to come up so you could do something with it.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that these issues are a network capacity issue. Of course, the morons running the agency are incapable of comprehending this.

"Management" is definitely too grand a title for these people.

My hearing today in Cali came off. But a VE who used to complain a lot while in person starting getting frustrated also. She was crying about how she was on hold for like 1 hour.

I dunno about outages. But I tried to call 1-800-773-1213 and was on the phone for over 4 hours. I fell asleep in bed at around the 3rd hour. I am not sure if they answered or just got disconnected but the phone record on my phone says 4 hours. Pretty pathetic. I need to setup my direct deposit. Online it says it won't change until May of 2022 so that's why I tried to call someone today. I need it changed for the April 2022 depsoit. I am giving plenty of notice for this to be adjusted for the April deposit.

@ 2:54 No, let's put this silly aphorism to bed. The lowest bidder doesn't always win--not even in LPTA procurements where that usually happens. By the way, LPTA is disfavored (there was a HR on this in 2016 if you google), while a best value tradeoff award methodology is preferred and many times it is not the lowest bidder who wins award.

It's continuing into today. Our hearing was 15 mins late due to the phones being down.

I have a hearing that was supposed to start 40 minutes ago with the Columbia, SC OHO. I haven't been called yet, and I can't get through to the OHO to get an update.

The phones are still down today and we are not getting any updates from management as to why the phones are down or when they expect the phones to be fixed. Nothing but silence.

Today 3/8 -- still ongoing in FO. Day 2 this week , following 2 days last week. Not the best public service BUT does afford the Field an opportunity to address some back log !

How can you tell the difference between an outage and when they are "there" and just dont answer? Same result.

They were out yesterday, they are out today. Sad.
