Being disabled and being elected to public office are not necessarily mutually exclusive. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Rep. Jim Baird, Rep. Madison Cawthorn, Senator Tammy Duckworth and many other current and former politicians have been disabled by almost any standard. I am not saying that this Daniels guy is. But, what are the actual job requirements of being a member of Congress, other than getting elected? Competence? Nope. Showing up? Only when you want to. Staying awake? Not really. Honesty? Nope. Physical labor? Reading skills? You have staff for that. What skills would a VE claim is required for the job?
Not so much worried about the running for elected office. The video seems to indicate multiple business ventures under aliases are that are more relevant to concealing work while in disability. But like I said, it can’t be true because that never happens. He definitely much too sick to work.
A job history of 9 different, "short stints" at police stations sounds like serial unsuccessful work attempts and supports disability. Sounds like a decent mental claim, consistent with him being a younger individual. Registering a business, or getting licenses, doesn't demonstrate much. Not saying a CDR isn't warranted, but this all seems to be consistent with a disabled individual.
I've no idea how flipping a house interacts with SSDI benefits. But if anything, it would result in an overpayment, not evidence of non-disability.
*disclaimer: I've not looked into his policy positions at all. I bet I disagree with nearly all of them, but figured it's better to consider the facts with an open mind.*
Correct, without all the facts, it’s hard to make a determination. However, if he has nothing to hide, he shouldn’t be using aliases and trying to conceal things. He may not be guilty of anything lol than that being careless and stupid but it doesn’t look good either way. I’m sure his chances of getting elected are slim but who knows…maybe others in a similar situation will be on his side.
Income is income. Unless you had some really elaborate business setup, you would be receiving income (eventually) from the house-flipping process. Doesn't matter if it doesn't take much/any effort on your part--if you are earning SGA-level income, you are (regulatorily/statutorily) not disabled. (yes, yes I am aware of the all the nuance and tests for employees/self-employed/farm/etc. and the few exceptions to this general rule)
@12:14 There are no nuances for that. Selling a house is not income unless he was a realtor or seller/buyers agent. He did not flip it, he sold what was donate to him.
That is income based on the sale of the house which may or may not be taxable. That is no different from interest paid on a bank account, a lottery ticket, inheritance or selling personal stocks. It is not work so it does not matter and therefore would never be SGA even if it were a million dollars.
Or you are mentally disabled and started randomly registering a business and seeking licenses because you are bipolar and going through a manic period.
The house flipping is probably income, but given it literally did not even arguably occur as a result of physical/mental abilities, no that's not SGA. I'm uncertain if a one-time, albeit significant, payment would result in an overpayment. I suspect it would for that month, but still seems like it would not result in anything more than that given he's on DIB, not SSI. Wait, he is on DIB right? Cause if this is SSI he is screwed.
Sounds like he is on DIB not SSI which means the house would have no significance as it’s no earned income. However, registering businesses under aliases is stupid and warrants further investigation. Is he SGA, who knows until it’s looked at more closely. Sounds like since it’s DIB, at minimum a Work CDR should be initiated. Depending on the outcome of the Work development, a Medical CDR may or may not be the next step.
Why he was found disabled matters in the appearance of this case. If his problems are physical, then the various videos showing his activities would suggest that his physical problems are not all that impairing. If meant, then the videos of his physical activity means nothing at all.
The most problematic are the various Board positions he reports ofor the different companies he was part of. My guess is he is an arrogant jerk who thinks rules don't apply to him.
What is annoying though is the tag of the report saying somebody should report him to the IG. NO, you dug yup the info, why don't you report him to the IG?

Someone trying to conceal work while in disability is a non-story. That never ever happens. People on Social Security are much to sick to work…ever.
