What new trainees aren’t told by the union is that it’s guaranteed not everyone will be hired. It’s established fact that only around 40% of a class will be hired. It’s not surprising since the training spends more time going over all the body systems then how to use DCPS and IMAGEN. That’s because the rollout of DCPS was in early 2020, right when WAH started. Trainees aren’t even told until their first day they’re on probation! And they are then put in small units with supervisors who have never worked in DCPS, which hurts trainees because the supes mistake errors made by others for the trainees due to their ignorance. One class in 2021 fired almost all of the class.
I know someone who was let go after almost meeting her year. Her supervisor was known for how fast he closed cases, and his sexism. She told me that she was given dozens of examples of “explanations” for every stage of the case review. This supervisor also showed her that several medical sources weren’t really critical, so not worth following up.
I write all this to give some background on the numbers showing losses in one small area, Columbus. The devil is in the details.
The State of Florida salary for disability examiners is 41K to 62K while a GS 11 Federal salary in Miami is 77K to 100K with far superior benefits. No wonder why there is a huge loss of State Examiners.
