NPR is reporting that the Trump Administration is combining data from several agencies, including the Social Security Administration, to create a searchable database of U.S. citizens, something which has not been done heretofore. One expert described it as a “hair on fire” moment. The immediate purpose of the database is to verify citizenship for voter registration but I’d say there’s zero chance it would stop there. Apparently, there’s been no effort to comply with government privacy rules requiring notices about the creation of new databases and data exchanges.

At least they aren't trying to bolster the degree of information in this collection of data with highly personal biometric data from wearable tech.... Oh wait...
The government has been collecting vast amounts of data for years. Google listens to our conversations through our cell phones and has collected unreal amounts of data which they sell. None of that bothered you until you became hysterical about Trump
Any pretense that US citizens have any privacy from our governments whether city, county, state or federal for the past several decades is gone. The rise of technology has castrated the 18th century notion of privacy. Our Constitution has failed to this juncture. I fear it is doomed and as a citizen, Shall I will not submit to tyranny unless I destroy every electronic device I've own and (a la Thoreau) move to be "off the grid'? SCOTUS will, I predict, find that this is all constitutional somehow.
