These type of incidents will happen more often when SSA benefits are cut across the board in a few years if Congress does not act.

Greece’s state-run TV channel, ERT, said a relative had been in contact with the broadcaster to say that the suspect had a history of mental illness and had been angered by the rejection of an application for a state pension.

89 years old? I don't know Greece's Social Security system, but something must have went terribly wrong! 😮

Why do you assume there is something wrong with their system? Just like the April 23rd story maybe it wasn’t bad service it could have been someone who felt entitled to something they weren’t eligible for. Anyone who has worked at SSA for more than a day has dealt with members of the public who are pissed they can’t just walk into an FO and have us cut them a check!

Be wary of Greeks bearing presents.

@6:53 - I have no idea how Greece does their SSA, but pretty sure an 89 year old would be entitled to it would be a good guess, or at least something. Do you know how Greece's SSA runs? I was just saying, the guy must have been quite angry at something! By no means did I condone his actions.
