Senator Max Baucus, the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, has announced his version of an economic stimulus plan. Baucus' plan would differ from the President's plan and the plan that the House of Representatives is working on in several important respects, but for our purposes the big difference is that recipients of Social Security benefits, presumably including disability benefits, would receive rebates of $500 each from the government.
If this happens, I wonder what the effect will be on those who also receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. It would be cruel to give them a check for $500 -- but then reduce their SSI by $500.

This is going to create a significant addtional workload just dealing with people calling to ask what they might get and how it might afftect their benefits. And then if they don't get a check, more phone calls.
The plan only includes OASDI beneficiaries, not people on SSI, so how long before they start crying about not being included. Before this is done, pets will probably get a check. LOL
This is the offical answer right now:
"The economic stimulus bill you may have heard about on the news is not yet law. If you have questions about the bill you should contact the office of your local congressional representative."
The one thing that ALL our elected representatives can agree on is that now is the time to buy votes.
