Contract Awarded For Data Center Construction

The Frederick, Maryland News Post reports that a $191.5 million contract has been awarded to Hensel Phelps Construction to build a 300,000 square foot national data center for Social Security in Urbana, Maryland.
Urbana is currently represented in the House by Roscoe Bartlett, a Republican.

Congratulations to Urbana for being the site for this new computer data center! I recall that many years ago skilled workers at Urbana were responsible for another wildly successful computer project. It is not surprising that SSA recognizes their prior accomplishment and hopes for lightning to strike twice to be sure mission critical technology meets the needs of the future.
