Proposed Regs On Removing Inability to Communicate in English as an Education Category Clear OMB

The Office of Management and Budget has cleared a packet of proposed regulatory changes that the Social Security Administration had submitted on Removing Inability to Communicate in English as an Education Category. This can now be published in the Federal Register as a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM). After the NPRM is published, the public can comment. Congress can weigh in on the proposal.

Not very surprising really, it has always been a bone of contention with the arrogant American. YouTube is filled with videos that start with someone harassing someone with "this is America speak English."

For the record, we do not have a national language. As a country we are poorly rated for having a second language skill. YouGov polls indicate that 75% of Americans do not have a working knowledge of a language other than English (and we will not comment about a working knowledge of English!) while Europeans have 19% bilingual, 25% trilingual and 10% speaking 4 or more languages (see Multilingual Europe).

The dumbing down of America is clearly evident, language, math, critical thinking, all on the decline. Hopefully we will be able to find an immigrant to fiddle while we watch it burn.
