Who Uses Online Filing And Who Doesn't

The Center for Retirement Research at Boston College has issued a report titled How to Increase Usage of SSA's Online Tools. I don't know that the report presents any new ideas but it does include this interesting chart which shows what groups are and aren't filing online:

Well, for starters...you need 2 devices. Phone with texting and tablet or computer. It generates a code, that you have to exit out of the program to get if using a smart phone. If you try going back, it won't accept the code and generates a new code...
2nd...I tried filing online the 2nd application for SSDI...I needed it to be easier to get back into to do the form over time. I had to get the field office to help me retrieve it. It took 2-3 weeks to complete the initial (due to bilateral hand, shoulder pain), but the program seems designed for you to do all at once (apparently).
3rd. No updates after your hearing.
4th. What is the purpose of the website if it's so hard to use? What is easy to accomplish (other than ordering a new card)?

Establishing a MySSA account is difficult at times, but now they are using a third party service for those that cant get through on the SSA page. It is pretty successful but not everyone get through.

Filing for retirement can be tricky but if you read what they want you to provide and what is needed it can go quick. A straight forward FRA retirement with no AUX benefits takes about 20 minutes.

The Medicare A filing is 15 minutes, it is super smooth and easy. Best one of the services.

LIS is okay, but there is no way to attach additional information for proof of income.

No Part B sign up for those that take A only and later B when retiring from work, I have no reason why that still has to be a fax or appt to get done. That should be an online service since so many are delaying Part B till FRA.

DIB claims are not too bad, but you have to have all the info, it always is a problem getting all the provider information. About an hour and a half if you have everything at hand.

Overall a B with room for improvement and as the people using the services get older they will be more adept at navigating this type of service online.

You can now apply for Medicare Part B enrollment online. This was launched last year.

What does "income" refer to? High income or above average income I would assume but it's not clear.
