The Social Security Administration has posted final rules on Setting the Manner of Appearance of Parties and Witnesses at Hearings. These formalize the procedures already in place allowing claimants the option of either an in person, video or telephone hearing.

I didn't think I would like phone hearings, but I do. There are a few instances where a face to face hearing benefits the claimant.
Charles, How about a pole? how do you do most hearings, Telephone, In person, online video with client home, online video with client in rep's office
This guy has a “law” degree and can’t spell poll right. Incredible.
current OHO stats for hearings (approximate)...65% phone, 15% in-person, 20% online video. varies by region/office but these are the rough numbers nationally
