The IT issue that affected personalized services for several hours on Friday has been resolved. In-person services and full telephone support will resume Monday.

Gee, I wonder how the public feels about by being turned away with nothing being done. No paper applications completed or answering basic questions about the program.
Paper applications could have been completed and loaded up in the system on Monday. SSA does what convenient for them and not for the public. Now the crowds will be much bigger next week and they have only themselves to blame.
Absolutely! The offices should be sufficiently staffed next week to address the additional foot traffic due to the offices being closed on Friday. At the least, all teleworkers should be alerted that they might need to come into the office if it gets too busy.
Congress is on Summer Recess until Monday so good luck calling them. The left with 12 funding bills pending and a Sept 30th deadline. I think we're going to shutdown instead of CR this year.
Interesting use of the word punished. It simply makes sense that, due to exigencies, due to unforseen circumstances, how we operate must change in reacting to it and operationally catching up. It in no way meets the definition of punishment. Inconvenient, sure.
You could have everyone come into the office but you still only have x amount of windows to help people in the lobby. And if memory serves, Monday is always busy.
Depending on what's down, applications may not even be available to bring up and print. Offices don't keep 20 year old forms in stock for the most part.

Telework should be suspended next week in anticipation of larger crowds coming into the office.
Gee. Maybe they should call their representatives and demand Congress fund SSA.

How do they pull up the appointment list if the computers are down? Knowing who to call is kinda important.

@4:52 There will never be a government shutdown five weeks before a presidential election. That would be political suicide for the GOP.
Shouldn’t SSA keep paper applications handy in case of emergencies? Computers going down is a way of life.
