Carolyn Colvin To Be ACOSS

The National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives (NOSSCR) is reporting that Carolyn Colvin will once again serve as Acting Commissioner Of Social Security (ACOSS). She had served previously in that role from 2013-17.

Of course, the incoming Trump Administration can designate someone else for the acting position or can quickly nominate someone to be the confirmed Commissioner of Social Security.

Also, of course, Colvin isn't obligated to hang around if she is ordered to make layoffs that would have a disastrous effect on the agency.

During her prior tenure she didn’t accomplish anything because she wasn’t senate confirmed and did little other than hold “town halls” with her staff praising her. There is no point in putting her in any position for two months. She’s 82 years old and will do less during the next two months than an empty seat would do.

Colvin has been long gone in her mind and should be nowhere near the ACOSS position. Lame duck

She’s probably the worst ACOSS we’ve had next to Kilolo . Just absolutely awful. Her chief of staff ran everything - she required a mid day nap. Let’s hope she sleeps through the holidays . We are all trying to recover from the whiplash that O Malloy played the agency to build his resume. The carnage he covered up gains when all he did was cover up problems is appalling . His short stint will be known for driving out as much of the little talent that remains . The effect will be felt decades.

She deserves credit for filling in after Commissioner O'Malley's abrupt departure. She will bring needed experience, during a time of turmoil and uncertainty at SSA. Things ran fairly smoothly when she was ACOSS before.

I wish Commissioner O'Malley had stayed until the end of the year, Instead of immediately resigning. And that very night of the resignation announcement throwing his hat in the ring for DNC Chairman.

And with this, one of the architects of our death spiral returns. . .

Please don't forget about the big 80th SSA anniversary celebration

geez ssa employees sound like the absolute worst. even with what's on the horizon, they still will never pass a chance to throw mud at a decent commissioner. Colvin cares so much more about the employees and the agency then what they are about to get under trump. I am so happy to retire from this place of constant negativity and complaining. so yes good look with all that's coming your way you never happy complainers.

We get it. You hate women of color. Will a “certified racist” certificate get you to stop feeling so compelled to share it with us?

I thought Michelle King was next in line as DCO? Or they could have done the DC of ORDP like Kijakazi was?

Will she shore up he Trust so we don't have to take a devastating 21% cut? Someone has to and soon!

Why, just why? The American taxpayers should not be stuck with the bill for her lack of leadership. She is a very nice lady, but totally ineffective. Employees like these are one of the reasons DOGE can give for the need to fire federal workers.

10:35, she definitely will not, and neither will any Commissioner nominated by Trump (or another President). Because only Congress can change the laws about how much money comes in and goes out of the trust funds.

Is our country so bankrupt of talent that the best we can do is shuffle around with geriatrics in their 80s? Cognitive tests should be mandatory. Some 80 somethings are mentally with it. Feinstein should have been sent home years before she passed away. Recent video shows McConnell is mentally losing it. This is inexcusable and disserves our country.

I see the vultures are circling. GIVE IT A REST.

I 2nd John's sentiment. Everyone needs to step back and relax.

This is essentially a non-event, as nothing was going to happen before January anyways. I also think it would healthier to take out your frustrations on Congress, rather than imperfect Commissioners.

A thankless role that pays only in frustration. I wish her well given the circumstances.

In all likelihood, she'll only be there for about 60 days. It won't matter as Congress basically told O'Malley to go suck eggs so nothing is going to change. There isn't anything she can do, positive OR negative, that will affect the agency next year before Trump installs his own person.
