CR Contains Nothing For Social Security

The text of the Continuing Resolution to prevent a government shutdown is out. I see no additional funding for Social Security operations, not that I was expecting any.

Question--if the CR passes with no clause for SSA funding, does that mean SSA defaults to 2024 funding levels? So no increase or decrease?

Apparently Elon Musk has more power than the House leader -- who is in a text chain with Elon and Vivik. I have a hard time seeing how it would benefit Trump to have a government shutdown as he takes office in January. Its a truly brain dead political move.

Lump of coal is right, good one Charles, that made me chuckle.

Although the Republicans may not like it, SSA needs to have overtime restored immediately, for front line Operations employees.

The backlogs are growing, the public is not being served well in the Field Offices or the Payment Centers.
There is just too much to do and not enough hours to complete it.

Who actually thought we would get anomaly . If anything this agency is about to get punished for extending telework. Essentially zero OT and of course no hiring . I predict closure of some offices year

2024 funding is a decrease as salaries increases, utilities, rents, purchases etc all went up. It's a very large decrease.

House Speaker Mike Johnson is facing a revolt from his fellow Republicans over a last-minute measure to keep the government funded into the spring and avoid a shutdown, with an increasing number of allies — including President-elect Donald Trump — objecting to billions of dollars in spending that have been added to the bill.

I don’t believe the public voted for President Elon Musk to run the government.

The Republican plan is to starve SSA and make service so bad the public does not support it anymore. What an evil and deceptive plan. And so typical of the oligarchs - I mean Republicans.
