At least one observer believes that should Republicans retake control of the House of Representatives after the election they may force a government shutdown in order to defund health care reform. The right has become so frighteningly strident that this seems plausible to me. Of course, a lot of people remember this did not work so well the last time Republicans tried it so common sense may prevail.

Bring it on. Obamacare needs to go.
It would be interesting to see a poll confirming my belief OR speculation about the folks who vote republican such as:
1.Rich people who are not concern with the poor.
2.Poor dumb hillbillies.
3.Fake religious people
4.Many over-paid government employees.
Regarding #4 above, for the most part, career Federal employees are not Republicans. We actually work for the Federal government to help people and society. I won't address the "overpaid" part, there has been so much documentation to prove otherwise--I am tired of hearing about it. I was at the top of my class in college and could have worked anywhere for anyone. I have been working for the Federal government for over 35 years and it is not simply for the adequate salary and the average benefits. Not that I am complaining--it has been a very fulfilling career for which I am very proud.
It would be interesting to see a poll confirming my belief OR speculation about the folks who vote democrat such as:
1.Poor people who want the rich’s money and want the government to give it to them.
2.Poor dumb major U.S. city residents.
3.Atheists
4.Most local, state and federal government employees.
A#3, oh, please enough of the stereotypes. It you have something to say, say it. But, this stuff does not contribute to an understanding of this issue. Nancy Ortiz
