Telephone Problems At ODAR Today

I'm hearing reports that Social Security's Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR) offices nationwide are experiencing telephone difficulties today. It's not clear to me whether this is affecting other parts of Social Security as well.

Phones down all morning, it was so nice to be able to get something done for once!

"I cannot get in touch with my local field office."

How is today different from any other day? We haven't been able to get in touch with our local office for several years now.

yeah, because field office lines are perpetually clogged up with calls from claimant's whose reps tell them to call SSA with all their questions.

Yeah, love it when a claimant calls in and asks "What is my PIA and my DLI". They don't even know what they're asking nor do they know that they're doing the work so the rep can decide if they are worth representing. Um, how about I just make you an appointment for a teleclaim so SSA can do your claim for you for free???
