And cue the cheers of identity thieves everywhere. Now, not only can they steal social security checks of beneficiaries online, they will be able to order valid SSN cards to sell from, well everybody.
Colvin is a senile and depends upon the advice of idiots. I hope the first SSN cards that get stolen are members of Congress or their staffs.
Well, to request a card, identity thieves will need to have the identity information to begin with. I don't know how many identity thieves that ALREADY HAVE a SSN, date of birth, etc., will spend time requesting a card - that is pretty much useless at that point. That said, if they ARE trying to turn a profit off of selling cards, they're not going to be very successful since there are caps on how many cards an individual can request.
